SCR-I JV Boys Finish Year 12-4

The Scotland County junior varsity boys basketball team ended the season with a 12-4 record, including a 2-1 mark in the final three games.

The Tigers took on Canton February 16, traveling on a Saturday for the 10:00 a.m. contest. SCR-I started slowly but rebounded from a 20-14 first half deficit to capture the 45-34 victory.

The tides turned in the third period with a 17-5 SCR-I run. Cody Holt and Toren Skinner each had six points during the key stretch.

Clint Cottrell led the Tigers with 13 points, including a perfect 7-7 performance at the free throw line. Holt finished with 11 and Skinner added eight. Danny Roach pitched in with seven points.

SCR-I dispatched Knox County in similar fashion on February 18 in front of the home Memphis crowd. The Tigers trailed at halftime before exploding for 19 points in the third period to pull ahead 35-23 en route to the 51-32 victory.

Roach and Cottrell each had six points during the rally to help turn the game around.

Holt and Roach each had 15 points to top the Tigers scoring attack while Cottrell finished with 14. Nick Oldham added five points for the cause.

The third quarter was not as kind to the Tigers in the season finale February 21 against Clark County. SCR-I trailed 20-19 at the intermission and was unable to cut into the margin in the third period when the score went to 32-29 in favor of the Indians. Clark County closed out the game with a 19-14 run to win 51-43.

SCR-I was without the services of Cottrell in the season finale. Holt stepped in to lead the way with 12 points. Roach and Greg Neagle each finished the game with 11 points and Oldham added five.
