Campus Bowlers Win Conference Opener

The Scotland County Campus Bowl team opened the varsity conference season with a convincing 320-135 victory over Knox County March 4 in Edina.

The match was close through the first two quarters as SCR-I held just a 120-90 lead. That all changed in the third period when the Tigers took nine of the 11 questions to expand the margin to 100 points. The ball kept rolling in the fourth period when the Tigers went on a 110-25 run to blow out the Eagles.

Ryan Hinds topped all scorers with 110 points. Michael Lodewegen also had a big game with 80 points while Jason Findling contributed 20.

The junior high contest was a little closer but ended similarly as the Tigers expanded a 10-point halftime lead to win 335-250.

The Tigers had balanced scoring with Lance Smith topping out with 70 points followed by Loren Billington with 60, Julie Triplett with 50 and Jon Keller with 20.
