Tigers Heading To Districts With High Hopes

The Scotland County Tigers track team finished out the regular season with a third place finish at the Knox County Relays May 6 and with several team members poised to earn state bids.

Jason Findling continued his late season surge in the long jump event, taking first place once again, making him a front runner to advance from next week's district event as a state qualifier.

Several other team members have similar aspirations of advancing to state.

The Tigers 4x800 relay team finished second to Brookfield. The two teams likely will battle it out for the district title, with the top two teams advancing to state. The Tigers squad consists of Cody Holt, Clint Cottrell, Danny Roach and Aarron Holt.

Jason Glass had an off night in the discus, finishing in second place. He too is a front runner to qualify for the state championship.

Cody Holt continues to battle with Knox County's Ladon Force for top honors in the high jump. Holt finished second behind Force. Both jumpers have a good shot at advancing to state.

Tim Buford finished second in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash for the Tigers, thrusting himself into the competition for a state birth next week as well.

Teams competing at the Knox County Relays were Brookfield, Knox County, Paris, Palmyra, Schuyler County, North Shelby and SCR-I.

Brookfield took top honors followed by Paris then SCR-I.
