SCR-1 Fourth And Fifth Grade Football Camp

Bradley Hamner won the kicking contest and Ethan Bremer was the winner of the punt and passing competition at the SCR-I fourth and fifth grade football camp held May 14-15.

Scotland County R-I varsity football staff conducted a two-day introductory football camp for fourth and fifth graders on May 14th and 15th. Basic offensive skills such as passing, pass receiving, and blocking were emphasized on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the main emphasis was on defensive agility and the fundamentals of tackling.

Sixteen young footballers participated in the camp. "It is important that the fundamentals are taught at this level," stated head coach Brent Bondurant. "When these players reach junior high, we can progress much faster if they can get in a stance and know the proper techniques involved in blocking and tackling."

At the conclusion of camp on Wednesday, a punt, pass, and kick competition was held. Ethan Bremer won the punt and pass contests, while Bradley Hamner won the kicking competition.
