Wet Weather Can't Dampen Softball Team In 9-3 Win Over Canton

Rainy conditions left the scheduled October 3rd trip to Canton for the Scotland County softball team up in the air but the team was glad it endured the wet conditions to come home with a 9-2 victory.

Scotland County jumped on top in the team's first at bat. Sara Eggleston started the game with a hit. She scored on a base knock by Meagan Fromm. After Brandi Mallett reached on an error Valerie Crawford plated both runners with a double to make the score 3-0.

Canton trimmed the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning before SCR-I broke through again in the fifth. With two outs Eggleston tripled. She scored when Amy Blomme reached on an error. Fromm then made the score 5-1 with an RBI double.

Canton came back for another run in the bottom of the fifth before the Lady Tigers put the game away for good with four runs in the seventh inning.

Jennifer Crawford singled to start the rally. Eggleston and Blomme followed with hits to drive home the first run. Fromm added to her impressive hitting statistics this season with a triple to score two more runs. She came in to score on a Canton error to make the final margin 9-2.

Eggleston was the winning pitcher. She went seven innings allowing two unearned runs. Canton managed just three hits. Eggleston walked only one batter while fanning 10.
