Marceline Keeps Tigers Winless With 65-61 Defeat

The Tigers just can't get over the hump. After falling behind early in the first quarter, the Tigers rallied to pull within two points on a number of occasions but could not pull out the first win of the season as Marceline held on for a 65-61 victory at Marceline December 6.

Scotland County fell behind early as Marceline poured in 23 points in the first period to build an 11-point advantage.

The Tigers cut into the lead in the second period, trimming the deficit to 35-27 at the intermission as six different Tigers scored during the quarter.

The big run came in the third period. Clint Cottrell had eight points and Danny Roach hit his second three pointer of the night as the Tigers pulled within two points, down 50-48.

Nick Oldham came off the bench in the fourth period to help keep the Tigers in striking distance. He scored all nine of his points in the final eight minutes. But the Tigers made just two of nine free throws down the stretch and let Marceline hold off the late rally.

Cottrell led all scorers with 17 points on the night. Oldham finished with nine while Roach added eight points. Chase Moore and Jake Fogle each added seven points. The loss drops SCR-I to 0-3 on the season.
