Third Period Run Boosts Brookfield To Win Over Tigers

A big third quarter proved to be the difference in the third place game of the Putnam County Tourney as Brookfield made a key run to knock off Scotland County 52-44 and take home the trophy.

Coach Jaryt Hunziker shook up the starting lineup and the move paid dividends early. After being held to just two points during the first quarter in the opening two games of the event, SCR-I got off to a much better start. Vince Rockhold had a pair of baskets yet the Tigers still trailed 12-9.

The Tigers pulled to within two points at halftime as Aaron Dale and Jake Fogle each had a pair of scores during the period to help SCR-I cut the margin to 23-21 at the break.

The third period proved to be the difference as Brookfield pulled ahead 37-29 behind seven points from Garrit Hane. The Tigers were limited to just eight points in the quarter on two buckets a piece from Dale and Chase Moore.

Fogle hit a pair of three pointers in the fourth period and Moore poured in seven more points but SCR-I could not stop Brookfield, which went on for the 52-44 win.

Moore led the Tigers with 15 points. Fogle finished with 12 and Dale added 11. Hane topped Brookfield with 17 points. SCR-I held 6'6 Damon Collins to only 10 points.
