SCR-I Runs Outs Of Gas In Fourth Quarter Of Loss

The third night of bus rides to Unionville appeared to take its toll on the Scotland County Lady Tigers who looked a little tired in the fourth period as the Lady Midgets pulled out a 41-36 win in the third place game of the event.

"We played pretty decent for three quarters and then I think we just ran out of gas," said Coach Andrea Dabney.

SCR-I pulled ahead 19-9 in the first period before seeing the lead seesaw back and forth with Putnam County pulling ahead 21-19 at halftime.

The defense picked it up in the third quarter holding Putnam County to just seven points and the Lady Tigers went ahead 31-28.

But the team ran out of gas in the final eight minutes, scoring just five points down the stretch.

"After that first game against Milan I felt like played much better in our final two match-ups," Coach Dabney said. "We played really well in seven of the eight quarters it was just that last one that cost us."

Meagan Fromm and Ali Fromm each had 12 points to lead Scotland County. Amy Blomme and Jessie Cotton both had five points on the night. The loss drops SCR-I to 3-3 on the year heading into the Christmas break.
