Moore's Buzzer Beater Gives Tigers First Win Of Season

A big fourth quarter rally was capped off by a three pointer from Chase Moore as time expired on a 42-41 victory for Scotland County over Trenton in the opening round of the Putnam County Tournament December 9.

The senior guard had 10 points in the final quarter but none were bigger than the three pointer he hit with just seconds left on the clock.

The key shot topped off a comeback by the Tigers who had fallen behind early. SCR-I managed just two points in the first period and trailed 9-2 at the end of the first quarter. The offense continued to struggle in the second period as the Tigers went to halftime with a season low 10 points and trailed by eight.

Scotland County picked up the pace a bit in the third quarter. Clint Cottrell had a pair of buckets to help the Tigers pull within striking distance at 29-22.

The offense came alive in the fourth quarter led by Moore who hit two three pointers to lead the comeback. Jake Fogle also hit a key three pointer late in the game to make the comeback possible.

Cottrell led SCR-I with 14 points on the night. Moore finished with 12 and Nick Oldham had eight points. The Tigers improve to 1-3 on the season.
