On January 21, 2003, at approximately 11:15 p.m., an unidentified white male was struck and killed by a Burlington-Northern Santa Fe freight train in Knox County, approximately four miles east of Greensburg.

The victim, who remains unidentified, is believed not to be a resident of the surrounding area. Through the course of the investigation, it has been determined that in the past week the victim had been walking east from the Kansas City area, with a possible destination of Burlington, IA.

The victim is described as being a white male, approximately 20 to 25 years of age, hazel eyes, brown hair, 5'8" to 5'10" tall, 160 lbs., and was wearing a black jacket, green pants, black overshoes, a black stocking cap and dark colored felt hat with a 2" brim.

Anyone having information regarding the incident or the victim's identification are requested to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol at (660) 385-2132 or the Knox County Sheriff's Department at (660)397-2186. The incident is currently being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Knox County Sheriff's Department and the Knox County Coroner.
