Traffic Stops Lead To Pair Of DWI Arrests

The Memphis Police Department reported a trio of arrests following recent traffic stops.

Dustin C. Wood of Memphis was ticketed for driving while intoxicated. According to the MPD, Wood was ticketed following a traffic stop at 6:45 p.m. February 6 in Memphis.

A second DWI arrest was made by MPD officers following a traffic accident February 7.

Walter Freitag, 54, of Gorin was ticketed for the infraction after he was involved in a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 136 and Route MM in Memphis.

According to the MPD, Freitag was eastbound on Highway 136 and was attempting to make a right hand turn onto Ridge Road. His vehicle made too-wide a turn, crossing the centerline where it struck a vehicle driven by Alvin Fox.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

Freitag was taken to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office and was later transported by ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

In addition to DWI, he was ticketed for making an improper turn and for failure to show proof of insurance.

The Memphis Police Department ticketed Mark Pender, 34, of Memphis for a trio of violations following a January 28 traffic stop. Pender was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. He also was ticketed for a stop sign violation and for no insurance.
