Police Officers Make Arrests In Two Cases

Officers from the Memphis Police Department made arrests in a pair of cases last week.

Daniel Donaldson, 76, of Downing was ticketed for shoplifting after he allegedly stole two cartons of cigarettes from Gas & More in Memphis on January 16.

Donaldson was ticketed on February 4.

Two Kahoka teens are facing misdemeanor stealing charges after the police department uncovered their alleged scam. Summons have been issued for Heather A. Alstadt, 18, of Luray and Shana N. Paul, 17, of Kahoka.

The two girls allegedly went door to door in Memphis selling raffle tickets that promised prizes such as a big screen television set, a Gateway computer, or a DVD player. They reportedly told the victims they were representing the art club at either Scotland County or Clark County High School.

The investigating officer indicated eight households have contacted the PD regarding the case but estimated as many as 20 local homes may have fell victim to the scam. Anyone with additional information in the case is asked to contact the police department at 465-2612.
