Oberdahlhoff To Be Featured Speaker At Soil And Water Meeting

The Scotland County Soil and Water Conservation District's Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 6th at the V.F.W. Hall in Memphis. The meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. with registration, coffee and donuts.

The afternoon speaker will be Susie Oberdahlhoff of Bowling Green. She will talk on the "Human Side of Farming". Susie grew up a city-born preacher's kid who married a farmer and learned "first-hand" what farming was all about. You'll laugh - you'll cry - as Susie brings to life memories of down on the farm. She has held positions with the Missouri Beef Industry Council and the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council in Jefferson City, working closely with the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Missouri State Fair and other state and national agriculture organizations. Susie now directs a public relations consulting business from the farm home.

Doug Rainey will have a slide presentation "Putting Back The Pieces To The Quail Puzzle" at 11:00 a.m.

The local FFA and creed speaker will be presenting a program at 11:30 a.m.

Winners of the 2003 essay contest will be announced along with winners of the second, third and fourth grade conservation poster contest.

A free lunch will be served at the noon hour.

The 12th annual Clark B. Ewing Conservation Memorial of $300.00 will be given to a local landowner under the age of 45.

Door prizes will be given out at the end of the meeting.
