Suspect Enters Not Guilty Plea In Tim Mendenhall Murder

A plea of not guilty was entered in the Adair County Circuit Court April 9 by the Kirksville man charged with murdering former Memphis resident Tim Mendenhall.

James L. McFarland, 45, entered a plea of not guilty to the charge that he beat to death Mendenhall, 42. A hearing has been scheduled May 6 at 9:00 a.m. for McFarland.

McFarland was arrested at the scene of the murder, which occurred March 3 in rural Adair County. He remains in the Adair County Jail on a $500,000 cash only bond.
