Jaws-Of-Life Rescue Memphis Man From Overturned Truck
Traffic on Highway 15 south of Memphis was closed for approximately half an hour Wednesday, April 23 after a one-vehicle accident at 4:30 p.m. left a Memphis man trapped in his truck.
Members of the Scotland County Fire and Rescue Squad used the Jaws of Life to extricate Ryan D. Kirkpatrick, 22, from his 1995 Ford pickup. The emergency service personnel cut the top off the pickup cab to allow ambulance service workers access to the victim.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kirkpatrick was northbound on Highway 15, approximately six miles south of Memphis when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. The truck was towing a trailer carrying a loader and for an unknown reason the trailer began to fishtail, causing the accident. The truck went off the east side of the road and then came back on to the roadway where it overturned before coming to rest on the driver's side in the middle of the road.
Kirkpatrick suffered moderate injuries in the crash. He was taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital.
The Scotland County Sheriff's Department, ambulance service and fire and rescue assisted the Patrol at the scene of the accident.
