New Outpatient Specialist Will Provide ENT Service At SCMH

Marcia Dial, C.E.O. at Scotland County Memorial Hospital has announced a new outpatient specialist who will be available in Memphis.

Tracy C. Orton, D.O. will provide an Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat) practice at S.C.M.H. starting in July.

Orton received his Bachelor of Arts degree at MidAmercia Nazarene University in Olathe Kansas, finishing in December 1993 with dual majors in Physics and Mathematics. He entered Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in September of 1994 graduating as a Physician of Osteopathic Medicine in June 1998.

Beginning July 1, 1998 Dr. Orton maintained an internship in Otolaryngology / Orofacial Plastic Surgery, finishing the specialty track on June 30, 1999, at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Kirksville.

Orton is completing a residency on Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery - Facial Plastic Surgery at Northeast Regional Medical Center, which started for Orton in July of 1999 and will be successfully completed this month. He is a participant in the NRMC/KCOM Academic Scholars Program and received additional training in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Facial Plastic / Cosmetic Surgery in Scottsdale, AZ., Neurotology at McIntire /ENT, Joplin, MO., and Otolaryngic Allergy - American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

Dr. Orton is a professional member of the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, The American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, the American Osteopathic Association, Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physician and Surgeons and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Dr. Tracy Orton and his wife, Julie have four children: Allison age 8, Joshua age 5, Mikaela age 2, and Victoria age 1. Leisure activities include being an assistant coach of daughter Allison's softball team and fishing with Joshua. The family are members of the Kirksville Church of the Nazarene where Dr. Orton is the Christian Life Ministries Council Director.

An Otolaryngologist is a physician who specializes in the care of the ear, nose, throat and related areas. They perform a great variety of surgical procedures in the daily treatment of ear, nose, throat, sinuses, larynx, pharynx, neck, oral cavity, thyroid, salivary gland, and esophagus.

An otolaryngologist, also known as an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) doctor, routinely handles cases such as adenoidectomies, tonsillectomies, nose bleeds, ear tubes, infected mastoids, airway problems and sinus disease. They specialize in a number of surgeries and plastic surgeries of the head and neck.

Dr. Orton will be accepting patients by appointment at Scotland County Memorial Hospital each month, on the first and third Tuesdays. For more information call 660-465-8511.
