Gorin Residence Damaged By Early Morning Blaze

A home in Gorin sustained extensive damage in an early morning fire Tuesday, June 10. The Bill Bass home was totally gutted by the fire that was reported by the engineer of a passing train at 12:28 a.m. The home is located on Route U just east of the railroad crossing in Gorin.

The Gorin Fire Department responded to the scene and brought the blaze under control. Lingering fire in the roof forced the department to make a mutual aid call to the Scotland County Fire Department to utilize the latter's thermal imager device to pinpoint the remaining hot spots.

The Scotland County Fire Department was on the scene until approximately 2:30 a.m. with the Gorin firemen remaining most of the morning. The Scotland County Sheriff's Department remained at the scene until 8:00 a.m. as the case is under review by the Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office.
