Arbela Man Hurt In Crash On Route H

An Arbela man suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident July 9. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bradley C. Wittstock, 42, was injured when his 1987 GMC Suburban was involved in a one-car crash on Route H, 1 miles north of Arbela at 7:00 p.m.

The patrol report indicated that Wittstock was northbound on Route H when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and traveled through a ditch where it struck a culvert before coming to rest on the left side of the roadway.

Wittstock suffered minor injuries and was to seek treatment on his own. The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was removed from the scene by the owner. The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department.

The crash was the first investigated by the Highway Patrol in Scotland County during the month of July. The June statistics released by the Patrol indicated a sharp decline in accidents in Scotland County that were investigated by state troopers.

Only two motor vehicle crashes were investigated by the Patrol in June of 2003 compared to 10 during the same month a year earlier. Thus far in 2003 there have been just 19 motor-vehicle crashes in Scotland County that have been investigated by the Highway Patrol. That's down from 27 during that same stretch of time in 2002. There have been 11 injuries and zero fatalities reported in these accidents.
