Fire Destroys Truck Stopped At Route T Junction

The Scotland County Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at the junction of Route T and Highway 136 at approximately 1:15 p.m. Friday, July 11.

The firemen extinguished a late model pickup truck, which had caught fire in the engine compartment and destroyed the front half of the truck before the blaze was put out.

The truck, which is owned by Jim Kigar of Bible Grove, was being driven by a neighbor who was hauling a livestock trailer. The driver was able to drop the trailer and freed the bull that was being hauled to prevent the fire from threatening either.

Three fire trucks and a dozen firemen responded to the call. They were on the scene for approximately 15 minutes. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Scotland County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene for traffic control and motorist safety.
