Law Enforcement Officers Bust Scam In Memphis

A total of four individuals were apprehended in Memphis by the Memphis Police Department following an investigation of an alleged scam involving magazine subscriptions over the August 2 weekend.

Daniel L. Grayson, 27, of South Haven, MS, was arrested and has been charged with five counts of stealing by deceit (fraud) after several Memphis citizens reported suspicious activities involving his group that was supposedly selling magazine subscriptions.

Kimberly D. Owens, 25, of Lumberton, NC was taken into custody and faces two counts of stealing by deceit. She also was charged with possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana.

Joseph R. Sprock, 19, of Dittmer was arrested on one count of stealing by deceit. He was also held on an outstanding warrant from Jefferson County.

A fourth individual was questioned in the case but was released without charges.
