SCMH Adding Ophthalmologist To Services Available In Memphis

Individuals battling with cataracts that are simply wishing to improve their eyesight through the modern technologies of LASIK surgery will now have a local option.

Dr. Laurence I. Miller, D.O. Ophthalmology will bring his more than 10-years experience in the field to Memphis providing outpatient eye care at Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

The doctorís first visit to Memphis will be Friday, September 26 for clinic. Referrals to Dr. Miller may be made through the Memphis Eye Clinic Dr. Kent Wolber, O.D., from your family physician, or simply by contacting Dr. Millerís office for an appointment. Dr. Miller attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and continued with a medical internship at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, OH. He then went on to perform an ophthalmology residency at Tulsa Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.

After completing his education, Dr. Miller has spent the past 14 years as a full service ophthalmologist/ eye physician and surgeon serving northeast Missouri and southeast Iowa since 1989. He is recognized as a leader in cataract removal and lens implant surgery as well as refractive surgery including LASIK.

The doctor has been the first to introduce no-stitch, no-patch, no-shot cataract removal in the area. He also has been the first in the area to do corneal transplant surgery.

Dr. Miller has completed more than 8,000 LASIK procedures for the correction of near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Miller also serves as the associate professor of surgery at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, teaching ophthalmology to the family practice students as well as the residents.

He is a fellow in the Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and is a board certified Ophthalmologist. In addition Dr. Miller has completed credentialing in the Excimer Laser system and also a fellowship in LASIK.

Through the Northern Missouri Eye Center Dr. Miller has provided eye care to the region for more than a decade.

Dr. Miller and his wife reside in Kirksville.
