Tigers Crowned District Champs

It was a nail biter but the Scotland County Tigers football team escaped from Edina with a hard-fought 14-12 victory over Knox County on Friday night to capture the District Title and advance into the first round of the state Class 1 playoffs.

SCR-I (6-4) will travel to Princeton (10-0) to take on the second ranked team in the state in Class 1 on Wednesday, November 12. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time.

The Tigers advanced to the state’s sweet 16 for the second straight season, meeting Princeton in both recent appearances. SCR-I lost to Princeton 34-6 in the first round of the 2002 playoffs.

The rest of the class 1 match ups are:

Paris (9-1) at St. Vincent (7-3)

Tipton (9-0) at Salisbury (9-1)

Greenfield (6-4) at Marionville (10-0)

Osceola (6-4) at Lockwood (8-1)

Orrick (9-1) at Cass-Midway (8-2)

Polo (6-4) at Santa Fe (7-3)

Rock Port (4-4) at Mid-Buchanan (7-3)

Scotland County (6-4) at Princeton (10-0)
