Ministerial Alliance To Host Community Thanksgiving

The Scotland County Ministerial Alliance wants to invite you and your family to join the Churches of Scotland County in a Community Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 25th at 7:00 p.m.

Churches across Scotland County have come together and planned an evening of worship and celebration that the entire community might have opportunity to be part of a service of thanksgiving. This year’s service will be held at the North School Gym.

“This time of year reminds us to be thankful for the basics of life: food, shelter and clothing,” said alliance member Jack Sumption. “This time of year reminds us that some need help with the basics of life. The Scotland County Ministerial Alliance coordinates the efforts of the area congregations in providing benevolent assistance to those in need. Functions like the Community Thanksgiving service help us collect resources to be distributed to folks who may have fallen on hard times.”

The S.C.M.A. is often asked to provide food and assist with utility payments among other things.

“The Churches of the S.C.M.A. encourage you to come out for the Community Thanksgiving service,” Sumption stated. “Come with some non-perishable food or paper items that can be forwarded to our community food bank. Bring along a cash donation that might be put into the S.C.M.A. fund that we might continue to assist the needs of our friends and neighbors all over Scotland County.”
