Police Officers Again Lending Santa A Hand

Traditional Christmas colors are red and green, but some of Santa’s helpers will be flashing red and blue, as in police cars. The Memphis Police Department is again serving as Santa’s Helpers to insure a Merry Christmas for area families.

The local police department is accepting donations to help purchase gifts for local children in need. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the program can call 465-2612, drop by the police office on the east side of the square or mail your donation to 112 S. Market, Memphis. MO 63555.

In past holiday seasons the Santa’s Helpers have lent a hand to St. Nick by visiting as many as 40 Scotland County kids, delivering special Christmas packages via police cruiser.

This year the department will again work in conjunction with the Division of Family Services to gather funds for the project as well as locating families in need.

Projector coordinator Ki Reese of the MPD asks anyone that knows of children that need to be added to the list this year to contact her office as soon as possible.
