Memorial services for Leland "Lee" Howard, 82, of Fredericksburg, TX, who died February 9, 2003, at his residence, will be held privately at a later date.

Mr. Howard was born September 5, 1920, in Memphis, MO, to Eddie and Loreita Howard.

He was married to Jane Hagar on March 3, 1984, in Corpus Christi, TX.

He was a member of the V.F.W. in Memphis, MO and a life member of the American Legion in Cheraw, CO.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Howard of Fredericksburg, TX; children, Steve Howard of Katy, TX, Lea Ann Hughes of Norman, OK, David Howard of Cheraw, CO, Debra Shepherd of Marceline, MO, Douglas Howard of Abilene TX, Jon Howard of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph Howard of Branson, MO, Annette Schwab of Smithville, MO, Laura Cramer of Colorado Springs, CO; two stepsons, William Tinsley of Jacksonville, FL, and James Tinsley of Orange Park, FL; 30 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Arlean Berry of Memphis, MO; two brothers, Hillis Howard of Avon, IL and Eugene Howard of Granger, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Leland L. Howard in 1994 and Michael in infancy; two grandchildren; and a brother, Clarence William Howard.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice and may be left at the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 South Main St., Memphis, MO.

Overby Funeral Home of Kerrville, TX, was in charge of arrangements.
