Garnett Louise Butler, 90, of Downing, MO, passed away at her home on March 20, 2003.

The daughter of Fred and Bessie (Miller) Armstrong, she was born December 30, 1912, in Sciota, IL.

On May 10, 1930, she was united in marriage to Pastor Clifton Euberto Butler and to this union three children were born. Mrs. Butler worked as a linotype operator for many years.

Mrs. Butler is survived by her children, Theda Levy of Bisbee, AZ, Mrs. Larry (Raenelle) Smith of Downing, MO, and Alvin Butler of Belvedere, IL; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alta Cramblett of Boynton Beach, FL.

Garnett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Freddie Armstrong and Lyle Armstrong; and one sister, Inez Sallee.

Garnett attended the Downing Christian Church in Downing, MO.

Funeral services were held March 23, 2003, at the Downing Christian Church with Troy Barrett of Memphis, MO officiating. Music will be provided by Betty Anderson, organist, and Schelle Cooley, soloist. Pallbearers were Jim Siver, Tom Smith, Jim Poffenbarger, John Poffenbarger, Alan Butler and Larry Cramblett. A memorial has been established for the Clifton E. Butler Scholarship Fund at the Lincoln, IL Christian College. Burial was in the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, MO. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home.
