William Norton "Bill" Purvis of Council Bluffs, IA, died March 12, 2003, at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA.

Bill was the son of Charlie and Maggie Norton Purvis and was born June 15, 1921 at Burlington, IA.

He married Goldie Marie Garrison on April 6, 1946. To this union three children were born.

He worked at Campbell's Soup until his retirement in 1985. He served in the military during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737.

Bill was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim Purvis and George Martin; his step-father, Orville Martin; and a son-in-law, Joseph Biddenstadt.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie; two daughters, Marcia Carol Purvis and Wilma Marie Biddenstadt, both of Council Bluffs, IA; and a son, Darwin Richard Purvis and wife, Regina of Oakland, NE; five grandchildren, Rebecca Ann West, Joseph Darvis (JD) and Cherie Marie Biddenstadt, Issac and Danielle Purvis.

Services were held March 17, 2003 at McCurdy Funeral Home. Burial was at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
