RAYMOND MAXWELL LEFLER
(8/25/1926 - 5/27/2003)




Raymond Maxwell Lefler, 76, of Peyton, CO, died May 27, 2003, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steve Elschlager in Kirksville, MO.

The son of Glen Corbett and Edith Marie (Saulsbury) Lefler, he was born near Crawford, MO, on August 25, 1926.

He was married to Pat Badger and to this union three children, Susan, Mike and Jane, were born.

Max was a veteran of World War II, when he served with the Army Air Force. He grew up in Lancaster, MO and graduated from the Lancaster High School with the class of 1944. He worked for the Tri-County Electric Company for a time, prior to going to Colorado. He continued with that work as a lineman for the Sturgeon Electrical Company. He was retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy and a great-grandson.

Surviving are his children, Susan and her husband, Steve Elschlager of Kirksville, MO, Mike Lefler and wife, Janell of Peyton, CO, and Jane and her husband, Donald Lewis of Kirksville, MO; brothers, Billy and his wife, Betty Lefler of Fremont, NE, and Eugene Lefler and his wife, Janice of Aurora, CO; eight grandchildren, Eren Elschlager, Rian Elschlager, Jeremy Lefler and his wife, Anita, Christina Lefler, Joseph White, Jason White, Donald Lewis, Jr. and Robert M. Lewis; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held May 30, 2003 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Payton Murl (Sonny) Smyser officiating. Special music was by Cole Tippett, accompanied by Maureen Watkins. Pallbearers were Jeremy Lefler, Joseph White, Stacy Lefler, Bruce Lefler, Jimmy Lefler and Brady Lefler. Honorary pallbearers were Brice Lefler and Jason White. Interment was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO. Memorials have been established for the Arni Memorial Cemetery.
