VIRGINIA BAKER
(3/8/1921 - 6/10/2003)




Ida Virginia Baker, 82, of Memphis died Tuesday evening, June 10, 2003, at Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

She was born the daughter of Leslie and Mable (Wilsey) Matlock, on March 8, 1921, in Rutledge. She attended Chaney rural school and graduated from the Rutledge High School.

She was married to Howard Baker on May 10, 1953. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1977.

Virginia loved traveling and sightseeing. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her sisters: Mildred Atwell, Ruby Morgan, and Madeline York; and her brothers: Wallace, Henry, and Eldon Matlock.

She is survived by her sister, Mable (Molly) Wulfing of Silvis, IL; several nieces and nephews; her special friend, Art Rice of Keokuk, IA.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2003, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with the Rev. Carol Blackwell officiating. Serving as casketbearers were Paul Hale, Tom Matlock, John Matlock, Gordon Matlock, Kevin Moffett, and Steve Moffett. Burial was in the South Bethel Cemetery near Rutledge, MO. Memorials are suggested to the South Bethel Cemetery.

Gerth Funeral Service handled the arrangements from their Memphis chapel.
