GEORGE WAYLAND GOLDEN
(5/7/1923 - 7/4/2003)




George Wayland Golden, 80, of Edina, MO, passed away July 4, 2003, near Edina, MO.

He was born in Knox County, MO, on May 7, 1923, the son of Manley Arlow and Cleoan Ann Allensworth Golden.

On March 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Helen Rhoades at Kirksville, MO and she preceded him in death on September 18, 1973. To this union two children were born. On December 26, 1975 he was united in marriage to Maxine Marie Jones.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine Marie Golden of Edina, MO; two children, Kenneth Lee Golden and his wife, Judy of Lancaster, MO, and Linda Darlene Dalton of Brashear, MO; two brothers, Delbert Shelton Golden and wife, Madeline of Rutledge, MO, Carl Dean Golden of Novelty, MO; one sister, Mareta Riebel and husband, Roger of Arbela, MO; four grandchildren, Stacy Hardwick and husband, Eric, Quinton Dalton and wife, Brandi, Gunner Golden and Augusta Golden; three great grandchildren, Cameron Hardwick, Taylor and Hunter Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lorene Skinner; and two brothers, Clarence Melvin Golden, and Manley Golden Jr.

George was raised near Rutledge, MO, where he received his education graduating from the Rutledge High School. George served his country in the United States Army from April 11, 1945 to December 6, 1946.

George was engaged in farming all of his life. He loved the country, spending time with family and friends and fixing things. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services were held July 7, 2003, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. The Reverend Ernest Deatrick officiated the services. Burial with military honors was in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, MO. Casket bearers were Quinton Dalton, Eric Hardwick, Lonnie Golden, Roger L. Riebel, Tommy Riebel, and Kevin Skinner. Expressions of sympathy in memory of George W. Golden may be made to the Linville Cemetery in Edina, MO. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
