Henry E. "Hank" Allen, 86, of rural Bloomfield, IA, died August 30, 2003, at his home.

He was born January 27, 1917, in Pulaski, IA to William and Mary Sommers Allen.

He married June B. Watson, December 25, 1943 in San Antonio, TX.

He graduated from Milton High School in 1934 and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. A resident of Davis County, IA since 1955, he was a farmer and worked for the Department of Agriculture in Van Buren and Davis counties for several years. He was a member of the Stiles Christian Church, the Gideons, was a 50 year member of Franklin Lodge #14 AF & AM in Bloomfield, IA and Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield, IA.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Henry H. "Tex" Allen of Centreville, VA; three daughters, Barbara Ann Crawford and husband, Tom of Memphis, MO, Bette Lee Taylor and husband, Bob of Bloomfield, IA and Tina Marie Burrows and husband, Jerry of Kalona, IA; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Patricia June Allen.

Funeral services were held September 2, 2003 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, IA with Kramer Smith officiating. Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, IA, with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield, IA. Memorials have been established to the Stiles Christian Church and Hospice, Inc.
