LILLIE M. CAMPBELL
(7/9/1908 - 9/2/2003)



Lillie Maude (Williams) Campbell, 95, of Memphis, MO, formerly of Crawford and Downing, MO, passed away September 2, 2003, in the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Edward and Molly (Aldridge) Williams, she was born on July 9, 1908, in Topeka, KS.

She was united in marriage to Cleo Eugene Campbell on April 8, 1927. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1976.

Lillie liked visiting with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She was a longtime resident of the Crawford and Downing areas; she enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and cooking something special for those who stopped in for a visit.

All those who knew her will miss her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one daughter, Opal; one sister; four brothers; and one great-grandson.

Survivors include one son, Leo V. Campbell and wife, Jean of Memphis, MO; one daughter, Bettie Phillips of Downing, MO; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Lillie is also survived by a dear friend, Jerry McDonald and good friends and neighbors, Bill Shelley and Vivian Gundy.

Funeral services were held September 5, 2003, in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Ann Luther, organist, and Chris Yarbrough, vocalist, provided musical accompaniment. Ryan Ferdig, Allen Ferdig, Bob Campbell, Jim Campbell, Paul Campbell, Jeffery Brown, Michael Campbell, and Donald Campbell served as casket bearers. Interment was in Friendship Cemetery near Crawford.

Memorials have been suggested to the Friendship Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
