Olen Miller, 81, of Kirksville, MO, died September 17, 2003, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.

The son of Samuel Ledford and Julia Ann (Woods) Miller, he was born near Downing, MO, on January 11, 1922.

He was married to Myrtle Imogene Newland on March 8, 1945. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1999.

Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by two brothers, Rufus Miller and Wayne Miller; and one sister, Katherine Staub.

Mr. Miller was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the United States Air Force. Mr. and Mrs. Miller lived in Iowa before moving to Kirksville, MO in 1986. He was a member of the Downing Christian Church.

Survivors include his four sons, Olen Edward Miller and wife, Linda of Greentop, MO, Terry Lee Miller of Greentop, MO, Ronald Gene Miller and wife, Deborah of Peoria, IL, and Larry Wayne Miller and wife, Cheryl of Kirksville, MO; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and one sister, Evelyn Baker of Plymouth, IL.

Funeral services were held September 20, 2003, at the Norman Funeral Home In Lancaster, MO. Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiated. Special music was by soloist, Schelle Cooley, and organist was Maureen Watkins. Pallbearers were Jason Miller, Shannon Miller, Bobby Gene Newland, Justin Miller, Michael Miller, Billy Joe Newland, Leroy Staub, Aaron Dannenhauer and Gary Baker. Interment was in the Barker Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Barker Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home.
