CHARLES A. WEST

Charles A. West, 72, of Memphis, MO, died September 18, 2003, at his home in Memphis, MO.

Charles was born November 4, 1930 in Scotland County, MO, the son of Merle and Marjorie Forrester West.

He graduated from Memphis High School in 1948. Charles was a sergeant in the Marine Corp and served in the Korean War. He lived in Arizona for many years. Charles was a member of the V.F.W., the Marine Corp League, and the American Legion.

Charles married Carol Rose on October 24, 1985, in Las Vegas, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charles is survived by his wife, Carol West of Memphis, MO; a son, Charles A. West, Jr. and wife, Dori, and their son, Dallen of Phoenix, AZ; and a daughter, Sherri Lynn West of Mesa, AZ; three step-children, Brooke Garbati of Memphis, MO, Susan Glenn and husband, Gary of Lee's Summit, MO, and Sam Johnson of Memphis, MO, and their children; an uncle, Harley West of Keokuk, IA; and uncle and aunt, Bob and Bernice Forrester of Tucson, AZ; an aunt, Aletha Riney of Memphis, MO, a special aunt, Florine Forrester of Memphis, MO; many cousins and friends.

The family has suggested memorials to Hospice 2000, or American Legion and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church in Memphis, MO, on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 10:00 a.m., followed by memorial services at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Carol Blackwell officiating. Music will by provided by Ann Luther, pianist, and Rosemary Harris, flute. Inurnment will be in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Military Graveside services will be by the Wallace W. Gillespie V.F.W. Post #4958, Memphis, MO. Arrangements are being handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
