MINA M. SOMMERS
(3/26/1925 - 10/20/2003)




Mina M. Sommers, 78, of Canton, MO, died October 20, 2003, at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

She was born March 26, 1925 in Keokuk, IA, a daughter of Paul and Carrie Webster Winters.

She married Bayne Sommers on February 21, 1944 in Kahoka, MO. He died on March 26, 2001.

Mina was a graduate of Canton High School. She was a member of the Blue Springs United Methodist Church and the Eagles Club. She helped Bayne with their businesses, Midway Antiques, the Auction House and on the farm. She enjoyed drawing and painting. She also liked to read and sew. Above all else, she was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. The love and wonderful memories she has created with her family will never be forgotten.

Survivors include one daughter, Marsha Allison and her husband, Larry of Canton, MO; five sons, Michael Sommers and his wife, Charlotte of rural Canton, MO, Mitchell Sommers of Luray, MO, Johnnie Sommers and his wife, Dian of Canton, MO, Max Sommers and his wife, Lee of Nappanee, IN and Marty Sommers and his wife, Debbie of Williamstown, MO; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews,

Funeral services were held October 23, 2003 at the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church with Reverend Stacey Nicholas officiating. Burial was in the Bluff Springs Cemetery. Memorials were made to the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church or the Bluff Springs Cemetery. Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO was in charge of services.
