MYRTLE JOYCE GRABOWSKI
(12/7/1915 - 11/7/2003)




Myrtle Joyce Grabowski, 87, of Memphis, MO, died November 7, 2003, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

She was born December 7, 1915, in Milton, IA, to Wm. Van Fleet and Zoe Ola Johnson Brown.

She attended school in Milton, IA, and completed the eighth grade.

She married Julian A. Grabowski on June 11, 1933, in Milton, IA. He passed away in July of 1977. To this union was born one daughter.

Myrtle was a homemaker and also worked ten years for The National Garment Company in Memphis, MO. She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, working crossword puzzles, watching sports on television and she especially enjoyed time spent with her many friends. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Lee Kight of Memphis, MO; four grandchildren, Shelly Jackson and her husband, Larry of Memphis, MO, Toni Stoner and her husband, Scott of Texas, Randy Jackson and his wife, Lori of Spring Hill, FL, and Sally Hooks and her husband, Ken of Princeton, TX; seven great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Donald Janulis, Chicago, IL; three sisters-in-law, Mary Young of St. Joseph, MO, Stella Simms of Doniphan, MO, and Verde Grabowski of Elgin, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins through marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Joy E. Janulis and Jeanette Brown, who died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Vernon Jackson and Robert Kight.

Services will be held at the Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO on November 28, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. No visitation is planned and private burial of cremains in the McAdow Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be made in Myrtle Grabowski’s name for the upkeep of McAdow Cemetery may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, MO 63555. Memphis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
