ROBERT PAUL KIDD
(10/23/1926 - 11/25/2003)




Robert Paul Kidd, 67, of Rutledge, MO, passed away November 25, 2003, at his residence.

The son of Robert Cary and Alice Pauline (Lockett) Kidd, he was born October 23, 1926, at LaGrange, MO.

He was united in marriage to Nealie Sholar on January 6, 1957, and to this union two sons were born and she preceded him in death.

On March 31, 1973, he was united in marriage to Naomi Gibson Cavenaugh at Paletine, IL, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Wayne D. Kidd and his wife, Jill of Thornton, IL, and William Robert Kidd and his wife, Shelby of Wallace, NC; two step-children, Bonnie Schick and her husband, Dennis of Peotone, IL and Dan Cavenaugh of the home; eight grandchildren, Wayne D. Kidd, Jr., Rebecca Lynn Kidd, Jessica Marie Kidd, Jonathan Schick, Kimberly Schick, Alan Schick, D.J. Cavenaugh, and Heather Cavenaugh; several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and two dear friends, Chuck and Shirley Oppenlander of Oak Lawn, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cary Kidd on November 9, 1971; his mother, Alice Lockett Kidd on January 18, 2001.

Paul was reared in the Blue Island, IL community, where he attended the Wheither Grade School and the Eisenhower High School. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Marines (He exaggerated about his age) and received his basic training at San Diego, CA and later stationed in Alaska on the Koidak Island. He was later stationed at Camp Lejune in Jacksonville, NC.

Following his military service, Paul moved back to Blue Island, IL in 1970 and was employed as a printer for the Calument Carton Company in South Holland, IL for 18 years.

In 1989 he retired due to health reasons and he and Naomi moved to Rutledge, MO to make their home. He was a member of the Colony Lodge #168 A.F. & A.M. His hobbies included collecting, reading war books, and going to auctions with his wife, Naomi. His favorite auctioneer was Bill Hayes.

Masonic Services were held November 28, 2003, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel and conducted by the Colony Lodge #168 A.F. & A.M.

Funeral services were held November 29, 2003, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home at Edina, MO, with Reverend Jim Brown and Reverend Norm Snowbarger officiating. Music was provided by Jim and LaMayra Bown with vocal selections. Burial was in the Memorial Cemetery at LaGrange, MO with Military Graveside Honors. Casket Bearers were Arthur Blackburn, Tommy Lockett, Wayne D. Kidd, D.J. Cavenaugh, Jon Schick, Dennis Schick, and Chuck Oppenlander. Honorary bearers were John Lockett, Wayne Lockett, Roy Parcell and Lloyd Ward. An expression of sympathy may be made to the Robert Paul Kidd Memorial Fund in memory of Robert Paul Kidd. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
