Campus Bowlers Off To 2-0 Start In League Play

The Scotland County campus bowl team got off to an impressive start in conference play besting Knox County before edging Brookfield to earn a spot at the top of the league standings with a 2-0 mark.

The Tigers defeated Knox County on March 10 in Memphis by a final score of 290-175.

SCR-I got off to a quick start, leading 70-10 after the first quarter. The lead grew to 100 points early in the second period and the Eagles never were able to get the score below the century mark.

Ryan Hinds topped the scoring with 100 points. Michael Lodewegen finished with 70 points.

Game two of the league schedule was a little tougher for the Tigers. The team held a slim margin early in the first period before expanding the lead to 155-90 at the half. Brookfield pulled within 15 points to start the fourth period before the Tigers pulled away down the stretch for the 270-200 win.

Hinds led the way with eight toss-ups answered correctly and Jennifer Crawford added six.

The Tigers junior high team made it a clean sweep with wins in both games as well. The Tigers beat Knox County 305-245 behind 120 points from Julie Triplett and 50 points from Lance Smith.

Game two was a cakewalk for the Tigers who racked up a season-high 530 points en route to beating Brookfield 530-50. Triplett had 150 points and Smith and Loren Billington each added 70.
