Trophies Continue To Pile Up For JH Campus Bowl Team

Scotland County R-I may have to add on another trophy room after the Scotland County junior high campus bowl team won its fourth tournament of the season March 25 with a championship at the Schuyler County Junior High Tournament.

The Tigers dispatched Clark County 420-245 in the opening round. Lance Smith answered 11 toss-ups to lead the scoring. Julie Triplett answered six and Loren Billington added five.

The host team offered even less opposition in round two as the Tigers dismantled Schuyler County 425-130 to advance to the finals. Triplett led the way with 80 points while Smith added 70 and Billington had 60.

Early on the Tigers tournament streak looked in jeopardy as Putnam County led for much of the first half. SCR-I rallied on the final three questions of the second period to build a slim 170-165 lead at the intermission.

The Tigers took off in the third period before the Midgets rallied to start the final period. SCR-I led by just 10 points early in the fourth period before closing the game on a 150-55 run to secure the win.

Smith topped the scoring, answering eight toss-ups. Triplett was right behind with seven correct answers and Billington and Brett Courtright each added a pair.

Smith and Triplett were named to the all-tournament team based on their scoring averages over the team's three games.
