Campus Bowlers Conference Title Hopes Dashed In Season Finale

The Scotland County R-I campus bowl team saw its hopes of a share of the Tri-Rivers Conference title slip away in the final game of the season as Putnam County defeated the Tigers 230-185 April 11.

SCR-I fell behind in the first period and never was able to get over the hump. The Tigers trailed by as many as 75 points midway through the game before making a run late in the contest. It proved to late as Putnam County held on for the victory.

Ryan Hinds topped the scoring, answering six toss-ups. Michael Lodewegen added five and Jennifer Crawford had one.

The news was much better at the junior high level where Scotland County closed out a perfect undefeated season with a 405-315 win over Putnam County.

SCR-I trailed after the first period before rallying in the second period to lead 220-160 at the intermission.

All five SCR-I players scored with Julie Triplett leading the way with 110 points. Lance Smith finished with 60 points followed by Loren Billington with 20 and Brett Courtright and Kaleb Reese with 10 points each.
