Lady Tigers Start Track Year With Top Performance

The Scotland County girls track team got a preview of how it stands in the conference and the girls had to like what they saw as the team ran away with the pre-season event held at Knox County to open the 2003 schedule.

"There weren't any official results, however, based on how we performed and the places we got I'm sure we finished in first place," said coach Josh Smith. "If we continue to improve and run hard, we can look for great things from the girls track team this year."

Amy Morgan won the discus and was second in the shot put. Teammate Angie Bulen won the shot and was second in the discus.

Ali Fromm took top honors in the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash while finishing fifth in the long jump. She was also a member of the third place 4x400 team along with Ashlee Frederick, Amy Blomme and Jamie Fuller.

Fuller finished second in the triple jump and in the 100-meter hurdles after winning the 300-meter hurdles.

Blomme was on the third place 4x100 team with Sara Eggleston, Nikki Kerkmann and Katie Schneider. She finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Eggleston was second in the 100-meter dash with Schneider taking fifth place.

Kelly Cochenour brought home fourth place in the 1,600-meter run and was sixth in the 800-mter run behind teammate Ashlee Frederick who finished second.

Eggleston wrapped up her solid day by earning third on the 200-meter dash with Kerkmann taking sixth place.
