Lady Tigers Take Third At Redette Relays

The Scotland County Lady Tigers track team shook the rust off to finish third in the Eddyville Relays April 22. The event was only the second of five scheduled meets the team has made due to poor weather this spring.

"All the girls ran really well," said coach Josh Smith. "Our times here this year were faster than they were last year. Our biggest challenge right now is getting to have a meet after the Davis County, Clark County and Schuyler County relays all were cancelled because of rain."

The SCR-I distance medley relay team of Katie Schneider, Nikki Kerkmann, Amy Blomme and Ashlee Frederick was the top points producer on the day finishing in second place.

Amy Morgan earned the team third place points in both the shot put and discus while teammate Angie Bulen finished fourth in each event.

The 100-meters distance was good to the Lady Tigers as well. Sara Eggleston was third in the 100-meter dash while Jamie Fuller took third place the 100-meter hurdles. Fuller also brought home a third place medal in the 400-meter hurdles.

Blomme, Schneider, Kerk-mann, and Eggleston teamed up to win third place in the sprint medley. The combination of Eggleston, Blomme, Schneider and Fuller was third in the 4x100 relay.

Kelly Cochenour took fifth place in the 1,500 meter run. She also finished seventh in the 800-meter run behind teammate Frederick in fifth place. Kerkmann picked up sixth place points in the 200-meter dash.
