Masden Breaks School Shot Put Record At Van Buren Relays

The Scotland County Tigers track team finished third in the Van Buren Relays last week but it was an individual performance that stole the show.

Brett Masden set a school record in the shot put. The senior won the event with a throw 50-feet six-inches to win the event. The throw was the best of the day in both the Class A and Class AA divisions at the large event.

Masden wasn't the lone winner on the day as the Tigers also got first place points from Jason Findling. The junior won the long jump clearing 20-feet 7.75 inches. Clint Cottrell made it three first place winners for SCR-I as he took the title in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:10.89.

Findling added to a solid day with a third place finish in the 400-meter dash and a fifth place performance in the 200-meter dash.

He also was a member of the 4x400 relay team that took third place for SCR-I. He teamed with Cottrell, Tim Robinson and Danny Roach in the event.

The Tigers 4x800 team earned third place points. Team members were Cottrell, Roach, Kiel Fogle and Cody Holt.

Other points producers for Scotland County were Holt (fifth place in the high jump), Robinson (fifth in the 100-meter dash) and Lance Norton (sixth in the 3,200 meter run)
