Racing Season Underway At Downing Track

The 2003 Go-Kart race season got underway Saturday, May 17 at Downing with a good turnout of 19 racers for the premiere.

In the Junior One class Wes Golden took first place followed by Brittany Thelen and Andy Garrett.

Jessie Simmons was the winner in the Junior Two class ahead of Kyle Thelen and Tyler Hager.

Lee Lynch was the winner in the sportsman class while Brandon Darr won the stock class.

In the Over 40 division it was David Kirkpatrick taking the top prize. Mike Thelen was second and Jim Hogar was third.

The Yard Karts was won by Zach Brown with Hali Hogar as the runner-up.

The 50-50 raffle was won by Marla Shahan.

The Go-Karts will be in action again at Downing on May 31. Hot laps begin at 6:00 p.m. with races at 7:00 p.m. Concessions are available.
