Junior High Track Teams Host Scotland County Relays

The SCR-I junior high track teams hosted the Scotland County Relays in Memphis March 12. The girls team took third place while the boys finished fourth in the six-team field.

Sharail Barton led the Lady Tigers with a first place finish in the 75-meter low hurdles. She also finished fifth in the long jump.

Sydney Priebe earned second place in the 1,600 meter run with teammate Morgan Sites finishing fifth. Other second place finishes were earned by Kelsey Sears in the 800-meter run and Kellyn Wickert in the 200-meter dash as well as by the 800-meter relay team.

The Lady Tigers sprint medley team won third place while the 400-meter relay team finished fourth.

Megan Westhoff took fifth place in the high jump. Kelsey Caldwell was fifth in the triple jump. Jacqui Brush took sixth in the 200-meter dash while Lacey Jack was sixth in the triple jump and the long jump.

Clark County won the day with 148 points. Putnam County was second with 97 points followed by SCR-I with 65 points. Schuyler County and Milan tied for fourth with 52 points while Canton earned sixth place.

The boys earned a pair of first place finishes to help rack up the points for the Tigers.

Casey Parrish took first place in the 1,600 meter run in a time of 5:13.02.

The SCR-I 800-meter relay team also earned top honors, finishing in a time of 1:49.8. The team consisted of Matt Wickert, Zach McBee, Bryce Blomme and Eric Glass.

Glass also earned a second place finish in the 100-meter dash.

The Tigers 400-meter relay team earned third place as did the sprint medley team. Grant Blomme earned third in the 100-meter low hurdles.

Colby Brown took fourth place in the discus while Bryce Blomme was forth in the 400-meter dash.

Brett Sagerty took fifth place in the 100-meter low hurdles, the long jump and the high jump. Seth Hayes was fifth in the 200-meter dash.

Rounding out the scoring was Colby Peterson who was sixth in the shot-put. Bryce Blomme was sixth in the 200-meter dash and Jeff Kice was sixth in the triple jump.

Putnam County took top team honors with 137 points. Schuyler County was second with 124 points followed by Clark County with 89 points. SCR-I amassed 65 points. Milan was fifth followed by Canton.
