Tri-Star Sports To Host 1st Annual Sports Weekend In Memphis
Sitting around the house thinking there is nothing to do? Donít blame Tri-Star Sports of Memphis which is planning the organizationís 1st Annual Sports Weekend scheduled for September 5-7.
Ken McMinn, operator of Tri-Star Sports (a subsidiary of Kenís computer business Tri-Star Systems) is putting together a number of activities for local sports enthusiasts. The weekend will feature a menís fast pitch softball tourney, menís flag football, wiffleball, hot shot basketball contests, croquet, horseshoes and washers.
McMinn plans to use part of the proceeds from the event to help fund a local youth soccer league and hopes the program will spur further interest in local sports and create added opportunities for the formation of leagues and tournaments.
The menís fast pitch softball tourney will be limited to the first five paid teams ($110 each) and will play a round-robin format September 6.
Flag football will be played on Friday night with the winner of the double-elimination bracket being decided Sunday. The field will be limited to 12 teams at a cost of $100 per team.
The wiffleball contest will pit up to 16 teams against one another on Saturday. The double-elimination bracket could spill over into Sunday if necessary. The entry fee is $60 per team.
The hot shot contest will not be limited on entries with different age groups competing on Saturday. Open to boys and girls of all ages.
Croquet will feature up to 18 singles and 18 doubles teams on Saturday. The cost is $5.00 per individual.
The horseshoes tourney will be open to the first 32 paid contestants. There will be singles and doubles competition in a double-elimination bracket all day Saturday. The entry fee is $5.00 per person. The washers contests will follow a similar format and cost schedule.
