SCR-I JH Softball Drops To 2-4 With Loss At Brookfield

It has been an up and down season for the Scotland County junior high softball team. The Lady Tigers started the year on a high note with a 4-3 victory over Schuyler County on September 9. Kirsten Johnston pitched SCR-I to the win. She also scored a pair of runs. Andrea Shelley and Deidra Dochterman contributed at the plate in the victory.

The girls hit their first valley in game two, an 11-1 defeat at the hands of Clark County. Shelley scored the lone SCR-I run. The team did pick up a 5-2 win in the B-game with Moriah Kittle, Megan Westhoff, Kristen Kaldenberg and Jeanie Forquer scoring runs.

The roller coaster season made it back to the top on September 16 as SCR-I demolished Knox County 17-2. Johnston improved to 2-1 on the year with the pitching victory. Melissa Cotton, Kaela Cook and Lacey Jack each scored three runs in the win.

The B game was a 6-4 win for Scotland County as Valerie Oldham and Morgan Sites made key offensive contributions.

The girls bottomed out at the Schuyler County Tourney. Bus troubles started the day poorly and it never got better as SCR-I opened with a 15-0 blanking by Putnam County.

The team played better in game two but still lost to Macon 8-3 despite a pair of runs by Tara Matlock to be eliminated from the event.

SCR-I saw its record drop to 2-4 on the season with a 9-6 defeat at Brookfield September 22. Johnston scored twice and Matlock, Shelley, Jack and Cook each crossed the plate once.

In the B game it was SCR-I coming out on top 10-3. Cook picked up the win on the mound striking out four in three innings of work. Sites and Dochterman each scored three times for the Lady Tigers and Kittle scored two runs.
