Lady Tigers Title Hopes Take Big Hit In League Loss To Knox County

Any conference title aspirations took a tough hit for the Scotland County softball team last week as the team fell to 0-2 in Tri-Rivers Conference play with a 6-1 loss to Knox County.

SCR-I had beat the Lady Eagles earlier in the year during the teamís five-game winning streak but the league game was all Knox County.

The Lady Eagles scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning courtesy of an SCR-I error. Knox County added some timely hits and never was threatened as Katie McMahan out-dueled SCR-Iís Sara Eggleston on the mound.

Eggleston allowed nine hits over seven innings of work as the Lady Eagles plated six runs. She struck out six and walked just one as her record fell to 4-3 on the year.

The Lady Tigers got just five hits off McMahan. They did have eight base runners total with three base on balls tossed into the mix. However the lone run came on an RBI hit by Rebecca Consbrock. The junior, who started at first base for the Lady Tigers, went two for three in the game.

Knox County improved to 7-2 on the year and made a push to challenge Clark County (8-0) and Putnam County for the league title.
