SCR-I Girls Run Out Of Gas In Double Overtime

Having to go a few extra laps can force a racecar to eventually run out of gas. Thatís what happened to the Scotland County Lady Tigers basketball team November 25 in Hannibal as the team simply ran out of steam in the second overtime of a 62-54 loss.

The Tigers used a key third period run to erase a three-point deficit and led by three points heading into the final eight minutes.

But for the second time in as many games opening the year, SCR-I saw a lead slip away in the fourth period as Hannibal rallied to tie the game at 44-44 as time expired in the fourth period.

The score was even at 51 all after the first overtime before Hannibal outscored the visiting team 11-3 in the second extended period to pick up the Lady Pirates (1-1) first win of the year.

Sophomore guard Ali Fromm kept the Lady Tigers close with a career-high 23 points, including a trio of three pointers. Fellow sophomores Brittney Courtright and Angie Bulen combined for 17 points while Jessie Cotton added seven points as the Lady Tigers fell to 0-2 on the year.
