Heaton Sturm Is First Baby Of New Year Born At SCMH

After a record setting year in 2003 Scotland County Memorial Hospital is off to a fast start as the first baby of the New Year was born at SCMH Monday, January 12 at 5:07 a.m.

Heaton Cruz Sturm was born at the Memphis hospital, the first of two babies delivered on Monday at the facility. Heaton weighed 10 pounds 3 ounces and was 23 inches long. Michelle Shaffer and Kyle Sturm of Kahoka are the proud parents.

Grandparents are Terry Sturm, Janice Sturm, Kevin Shaffer and Susan Conger, all of Kahoka.

As the first baby of the New Year, Heaton and his parents will receive a number of gifts from local merchants.

The package included gifts from the hospital auxiliary, RPM, Rose Hardware, Jackson, Auction, Junction Café, Junction Petro Plus, Farmers Mutual Insurance, Countryside Flowers, Community Bank of Memphis, Stoney’s Auto-motive, Scotland County Health Dept., Memphis Farm & Home, Crawford and Associates, Crawford Auto, Java Jitters, The Flower Garden and Payne’s.
